The Washington fire station is located within the Town of Washington Municipal Building at 5750 Old Town Hall Road. The new station built in 2002 is home to volunteer firefighters and their equipment and includes 2 fire engines, 2 water tankers, a brush truck, and a rescue/hazardous materials response truck.
The Washington fire station is a part of a larger organization, Township Fire Department, Inc. Township Fire Department, Inc. (TFD, Inc.) includes fire stations from the towns of Seymour, Washington, Union, Pleasant Valley, and Brunswick. TFD, Inc. operates these five stations with 21 trucks, two portable pumps, two boats, a four wheeler, six wheeler, and an Argo and many active volunteers.

Burning Permits
Burning permits are required (including the use of a burn barrel) when you are burning anything more than a campfire. PLEASE NOTE! you can ONLY obtain a permit online at www.townshipfire.org, then click on the "Burning Permit" button. You can read the ordinances as well as obtain a burning permit. Applications can only be made Monday through Friday from 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM, or Saturday 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM.
Burning Hours:
6:00 p.m. to Midnight - Monday through Friday
8:00 a.m. to Midnight - Saturdays
NO BURNING ON SUNDAYS, HOLIDAYS OR DURING CLOSED BURNING PERIODS.
Wind speed and humidity will determine if permits will be issued.
Open Burning:
Only dry, combustible materials can be burned - such as trees, brush, untreated & unpainted lumber, yard waste and clean paper products.
SOMEONE MUST BE IN ATTENDANCE AT THE FIRE UNTIL IT IS COMPLETELY OUT.
Closed Burning:
Township Fire Dept., Inc. may prohibit all burning during prolonged dry periods or when other conditions make burning hazardous.
Violations:
Punishable by a fine of up to $500.00 + court costs, up to 90 days imprisonment, or both, and assessment of actual costs for suppressing unauthorized fires.
